It was a Friday at J.G.P.S - It was photograph day for the kiddies and for the Teachers. I wore my Peach dress especially cos we were having photos taken and I brought my jeans and my blue shirt covered in flowers to change into for After Care. It was a stunning day. One where the Sky is that awesome blue colour and you just cant help being in a good mood - And it was Friday so we were all full of joy. After care lunch was my Favourite. Renaldas Hot chips. Oh Yummy I so loved her Home made chips. Peps knew I battled with my eating and she always gave me extra cos it was one thing I enjoyed!!!! Everyone else had gone home and the School was ours. That is it was After Cares. Everyone was buzzing with excitement cos they knew with this weather there would 100% be After care swimming. We all listened for Peps to say the Magic words - POOL TIME. Debs and Peps put the Rubber Rope into the Shallow end to mark where the little ones were allowed to swim. I helped all the little ones into their Cosies (costumes) We had quite a few little Ones from Hillbrow Nursery School. Everyone gathered around while Peps went over the Pool rules like we did every Friday when we swam. Peps blew her whistle the sign that everyone could enter the water quietly. All was going well and much fun was being had when suddenly Elaine yelled out that someone was under the water. Fully clothed I dived into.the water and in 2 secs I reached Elaine. We were in the deep end. Elaine had already dove down and brought up.this little life less body. I held her and swam to the edge where Debs and Peps pulled her out. She was i little 3 year old Nursery school girl called Sihle. And she was DEAD. She had no pulse, no heart beat no breathing. Her lips were Blue and her tongue was huge and swollen and hanging out her little mouth. She had also lost control of her bowls and later the Paramedic told us that was e definite sign that she was dead. Debs Pepe and myself Spun into action. Calm on the outside and terrified on the inside. I ripped my T shirt off as we didnt have a mouth piece needed for breathing into her mouth. Debs began C.P.R and I began Mouth to Mouth alternating with Peps. The Entire time the 3 Of us Prayed. Nothing else in the world existed except bringing this little girl back to life. Debs had never been on any form of C.P.R course but had watched many 911 programs and guided by God - she knew just what to do. Peps and I had been on courses but it is nothing like being faced with a dead child. We prayed and prayed and prayed and continued doing C.P.R and Mouth to Mouth. I didnt even realise tbat i just had my Bra and jeans on!!!! In the meantime Joy with the help of some others had quietly gotten all the children out of the pool and they were all Praying too. Debs had sent someone to Lab to phone the paramedics. You could actually feel Gods presence and his Angels all around us. Suddenly. . . the most Glorious sound - Sihle spluttered and coughed and vomited and OPENED HER EYES and sat up and asked me if I could take her to the toilet. SHE WAS ALIVE. SHE WAS ALIVE. You could have heard a pin drop in that huge area as everyone just stared as the Life came back into this little limp body. I am sobbing with the memory of that Incredible Miracle that God performed that day. The paramedics arrived a little later and were flabbergasted at what had happened. I went in the Ambulance with her. I did put my dress back on and did not go in just my bra. Little Sihle had pneumonia from the huge amount of water in her lungs. But after a few days in the Brenthurst Clinic she was absolutely fine. Our little miracle girl.
